Signs of Spring

Spring is definitely on its way here where we live. The weather has been gorgeous and the trees and flowers are just blooming. My allergies are a testimony to that!
This is actually our neighbors house. They have such lovely trees. They just finished putting up the new fence. We don't have any pretty flowering trees in our yard. So I just admire everyone elses.
I do have a very old French lilac. My hubby's great-grandmother planted this at the ranch many, many years ago. I understand it was originally on the first homestead site according to my father-in-law. When we moved from the ranch I brought it with me. I'll prune it this year after its done blooming. This was its first year in the ground since we moved almost 9 years ago. So next year the blooms should be spectacular.
This is a friend's tree and the blossoms were just lovely. I couldn't resist taking a picture. The petals from the blossoms where just falling everywhere like snow the day I took this.
Rhoda is having a Spring fluffing party. So go over to her blog and check out the particulars. Can't wait to see everyone's little bit of spring fluff! Have an amazing week.

Later this week a recipe. So be sure to check back.

A Long Lost Post

I haven't blogged a post in so long. I've wanted to but it seems when I get on the computer to blog and catch up with everyone I just don't know what to blog about. There's been nothing exciting going on. That's not to say that there has to be something exciting before I'll blog. You can tell by previous boring posts that's not the case. Maybe it's just a case of writers block, but probably more like the blahs. It's usually pretty gray around here during February and I tend to do nothing without sunshine. We should be having nicer weather coming up as was evidenced this past weekend. 2 beautiful days of sunshine. My solar batteries got recharged a little bit. Unfortunately just enough for me to make lists of what I need to be doing once the sun comes out for good. Ha ha!!! So we're alive and well. Kids are doing good. Seth has gotten a job at Taco Bell. It's only on the weekends so he can stay caught up with school work. Tina would like to find a job but hasn't so far. Maybe this summer. Take care everyone. I'll try to post a recipe or something with pictures in a few days.

Just a little post

Oh my what a week. The attendance clerk at work has been out all week with the flu. So I've been subbing in her job. Her job is full time. That working full time takes some getting used to!
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful weekend at Road to California. It was two great days of fun! Ohhhing and Ahhhing over vendor's booths, patterns, quilts, fabrics and so much more. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'll share a couple of pictures from the show. These quilts are from the actual quilt show portion and they are incredibly beautiful. Most are not bed quilts, but what I would call works of art. I'll only share a few because it takes so long to download the pictures and I need to get to bed. Hope everyone in blogland is doing great! Have a great weekend.

What Seth has been up to

Yes! I finally found my camera software. It's always in the last place you look. ;-)
Seth is my project guy and buddy. The years have sure flown by and I can't believe what a fine young man he has become. He decided it was finally time to redo the amour. I have had this family piece for sometime and just love it. It's been through a lot and if it could talk I would probably spend hours listening to it. It's very old. Before the die-hard you should never paint real wood enthusiasts croak I would like to plead innocent in my self defense and Seth's. He really didn't want to paint this beauty. The original molding had been lost though. Where do you find 100+ year old molding and make sure it fits. I'm sure that somewhere out there is a place but not in my wanderings have I found one. So when we decided we would use new molding and paint the piece Seth finally agreed. The first picture you can see the amour in its before state. It's not the best picture I know. Then Seth and the work in progress. Then a final picture of it in it's new home with new paint job, molding, knobs and handles. Yes I moved everything around again. Hubby hates that because it means he has moving to do. My pieces are old, heavy and large. Not to mention stuffed with things. I did clean it all out before moving though. Enjoy Seth's hard work.

I'm off to bed. This is Road to California Weekend!! Yippee!!!! Off to have fun with the ladies at a quilt show. Have a great weekend.

A rose by any other name ..... and still pictureless

I suppose some of you might be wondering why Morning Glory Cottage has roses as its banner. I love roses, don't get me wrong. When we went looking for a new name almost 2 years ago I noticed a lot of rose cottage names. There is nothing wrong with that, but I wanted something that was different. My son and I both love to grow morning glories every year. 2 summers ago we had the best crop ever. My father-in-law, being an ex-farmer, hates bind weed as it's common name is known. I looked for morning glories as headers all over! Nothing! It's not as popular as roses I guess. I need to get my picture back up Cd's out and begin the hunt for pictures.
I'm still looking for the camera software. I really don't like posting without pictures. I mean it is why I read, I mean part of the reason I read everyone's blogs. I love visuals. I hate when I can't find something I'm looking for. So enough whining.
I'm feeling lots better and even thinking about what projects I want to get done. I found the nicest fabric at Hancock's right after Christmas and before I got sick. I want to get new dining room curtains made with it. I went out today to see my friend and her shop to get some pictures for her. Found a few little treasures while I was there. It's hard to not bring home the whole shop sometimes.
Hope everyone is doing well. Eventually I'll be back with pictures. I know that software is somewhere!

Welcome 2009

Well it's never fun to ring in the new year with the flu. Which is exactly what I did. Yuck. The family went off to play games and eat the night away and I was at home sick in the bed, listening to the frantic animals once the fireworks, horn blowing started. Which was around 9 p.m. So I'm guessing my neighbors thought it was 12 o'clock somewhere and they might as well begin. I'm just now starting to feel better. It was a dozy of a cold. Not a fun way to spend the rest of one's vacation. There was so much I wanted to get done, but wound up in bed instead. So I guess there's always the weekends.
The other bad news is that I can't find my software for my camera. So I haven't been able to upload any pictures. Can you order more software from the camera manufacturer? Has this ever happened to anyone else? I haven't talked to the computer whiz yet to see if he can resurrect the information off the old computer or not. So we'll see.
Well I hope everyone else had a much better new year than I did and I hope that I'll soon have pictures to show of the amoir that Seth redid for me. Take care.

What we've been up to

Just a little update. Since the last time I blogged we lost the main computer and now the back up computer is going. So hubby and I decided it was probably time to get a new one. So we did. A nice, new laptop. We are enjoying it completely. I haven 't loaded my photo software yet so I don't have pictures to share this time. We've been busy though and I hope to share what we've been up to after Christmas. Christmas Eve with Neil's family is at our house and leftovers are at our house on Christmas day.
We hope everyone has a great Christmas and happy New Year.
